Books Sought for Filipino School
The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Galway is calling on everyone to donate
any children's books and old school books to help set up a school library
in the Philippines. Before Christmas, a member of the church visited the
Philippines, including the island of mindora, south of the main island
of Luzon. This remote part of the country has poor infrastruture, daily
power cuts, and poor medical supplies. There is a national primary school
with 500
pupils on the east coast of Mindora called Sablayan and with the help
of a local Philippine friend the church will help set up a school library.
As a result, the church is looking for books suitable for children between
the ages of 5 and 12 and will ship them to the school. People are asked
to bring old school books and childrens books in to the Aislong Christian
Bookshop, Lower Abbeygate St., open 10am-5.30pm from Monday to Saturday.
Donations are also welcome. For more information contact Volker on 087
