The Headford 8k Charity Road Race 2010 held Saturday 10th July, 2010 was a huge success again this year despite torrential rain during the race. At times it felt as if Hurricane Ike was rolling in which made conditions very difficult for all involved. Despite this it was the largest ever entry for the race with 222 athletes. Now in it's 6th year, the annual event is much anticipated by the local and running Communities and always a very enjoyable event for all involved.
This year as always it was very well supported very well supported by all the running clubs in Galway & Mayo with other runners travelling from Sligo, Roscommon, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary & Laois. Thanks to you all for coming out and supporting the event!
A special mention for Johnny Donnelly (marathon man) who ran a marathon that day but still came down to run Headford8k and support our cause!
All proceeds go to local charities supporting Children with Intellectual Disabilities. This years event will raise over €3,000 for this worthy cause.
